Teramo is an Italian city of 55,004 inhabitants, capital of the province of Abruzzo.
Teramo is situated in the northern part, in the Val Tordino, in a hilly area below the slopes of Gran Sasso, which slopes toward the coast with a rich vegetation of olive groves and vineyards.
The city lies at the confluence of the river with the stream Tordino Vezzola surrounding the old town.
Being situated in a deep basin, the climate is temperate semi-continental transition between the Mediterranean-hills (typical of the area Chieti) and continental (typical of Sulmona), both with regard to temperatures, the coldest month ( January) are around 5.5 ° C and the warmest (July) about 25 ° C, with a range of almost 20 ° C, both for precipitation, which are around 800 mm per year and are mainly concentrated in early fall (September-October). In winter, snow can fall abundant, as evidenced by the recent incident in January 2005. Given its location in a low valley in summer are not uncommon episodes of intense heat and sultry stagnant.
