The Province of Naples is a province of 3,078,604 inhabitants of Campania, Italy's third most populous and most densely populated. It covers an area of 1171 km ² and includes 92 municipalities.
Facing south and west by the Tyrrhenian Sea, bordered to the north of the province of Caserta and Benevento province, east of the province of Avellino and Salerno.
 
Demography

 The Province, the most densely populated of Italy, is characterized by the presence of many large cities, especially common with high quantity and density of population. Ben 12 municipalities of the province of Naples in fact exceed the 50 000 inhabitants. The province of Naples can be seen, in fact, a single large metropolis, on the average density of over 2,600 inhabitants per km ², of which the municipalities are simply the only agglomeration districts. Naples is thus presented as one of the most populous cities of Europe and the third of Italy (or second, if you count the metropolitan area).

Curiosity

Despite the imminent creation of the metropolitan area of Naples, there is still no final decision on the magnitude of the latter, but there are still three hypotheses:

Area Wide: for the creation of the Metropolitan Area will be added to the existing communities in the province of Naples Agro Aversano (currently in the province of Caserta), but located a few kilometers from the city of Naples, Baianese (currently in the province of Avellino) but in fact a unique geography with Nolan, and the Agro Nocerino sarnese (currently in the province of Salerno);
Normal Area: Metropolitan Area correspond to the current province of Naples;
Small area: the Metropolitan Area will consist of a part of the municipalities of the Province of Naples to Brusciano. The agro Nola, which would be ousted from the Metro if this hypothesis is accepted, will be able to create a new province (the "Province of Nola), which will take the joint all the agro, including Baianese and Vallo di Lauro in the Province of Avellino.
