Municipality of Gorizia

Gorizia (Gurize in Friulian, Friulian Guriza in local Gorica in Slovenia, Görz in German) is an Italian town of 35,980 inhabitants, capital of the province in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
The city is the focal point of conjunction between the Latin and the Slavic world and between the state of Italian and Slovenian. The Italian component is divided largely into two major linguistic and cultural reality, the Friulian, originally from the city, and that Julian, due to the past and an old Hapsburg Gorizia immigration, dating back to the dawn of the modern era and lasted until the Second World War (fueled in large part, the latter, by exiles from Istria and Dalmatia).
