The Province of Udine (Province of Udine in Friuli) is a province of the autonomous region Friuli-Venezia Giulia Udine with capital of 541,081 inhabitants.
 


Geography

The province of Udine is by far the largest and most populated of the four provinces of the region. It is bordered on the north by Austria (Carinthia), to the east by Slovenia (Upper Carniola / Gorenjska and Primorska Primorska) and the Province of Gorizia, on the west by the Province of Pordenone and the Veneto (Province of Belluno Province Venice). It includes 136 municipalities, ranging from the Alps to the Adriatic Sea. History

The province of Udine was founded under the name of the province of Friuli, in 1866, following the annexation of Venice to the Kingdom of Italy after the third war of independence. It happened to the province of Friuli existed in the Kingdom of Lombardy-Veneto.

The province was divided in two districts of Udine and Pordenone.
