The Lazio region of central Italy, is located on the Tyrrhenian side of medium-and occupies 17,203 km ² of Italian territory, extending from the Apennines to the Sea Tirreno.Il territory is not homogeneous physical characteristics, rather it is characterized by its heterogeneity, with the majority of areas mountainous and hilly; lowlands are found mostly near the coast.
It is a hilly region: 54% of its territory is occupied by hilly areas, 26.1% from mountainous areas and the remaining 20% by plains.
