| Guide Italia - Lazio | |||
City of Rome The Province is a province of Rome's Lazio of 4,148,913 inhabitants, the most populous of Italy. It covers an area of 5,352 km ² and includes 121 municipalities. It is bordered to the north by the Province of Viterbo, north-east with the province of Rieti, in the east with the Province of L'Aquila and the Province of Frosinone, south-east with Latina Province, west and south by the Sea Tirreno, and internally with the Vatican. The establishment of the Province is located in Palazzo Valentini in Rome. Geography The Province of Rome with its more than 5,000 sq km, covering almost one third of the territory of Lazio. Geographically it occupies the flat area of the Roman and the Tiber Valley to the mountains and dell'Aniene Lucretili Sabini and, in addition to the mountainous areas of the Monti della Tolfa and Monti Sabatini to the north-west, the mountainous region of Tiburtini Prenestini Simbruini and east, the area of the Alban Hills and the northern foothills of the mountains and high Lepini Sacco valley to the southeast. The western border of the province is represented by the Tyrrhenian Sea over which runs for about 130 km from Civitavecchia to the Roman Coast Astura Tower. In the area there are several lakes, almost all of volcanic origin, which are concentrated in the north-west of the mountains and Sabatini in the south-east of the Colli Albani. Rivers The main river in the Province of Rome and the Tiber River in the province belong to the drainage basins of the middle and lower course, from Ponzano Romano at the mouth. The second is the importance Aniene river, which flows into the Tiber at Rome and whose course is developed almost entirely within the province of Rome. Other smaller rivers whose basins are fully or partly within the province of Rome are: * Mignone, marks part of the border with the province of Viterbo; * Arrochar, emissary of Lake Bracciano, runs entirely in the province; * Farfa, a tributary of the Tiber River, flowing through the province; * Fixed, emissary of Lake Nemi, flows into the Tyrrhenian Sea at Ardea; * Sacco, a tributary of the Liri; * Loricina, flows into the Tyrrhenian Sea in Neptune; * Astura, flows into the Tyrrhenian took the eponymous tower, marks the border with the province on the coast of Latin America. Lakes In the province of Rome, there are three of the four largest lakes of Lazio, namely: * Lake Bracciano, in the north-west of the Sabatini Volcanic District; * Lake Albano and Lake Nemi, in the south-east of Latium Volcano; Smaller lakes are: * Lake Giulianello; * Lagustelli; * Lake Martignano. Orography The geography of the Province of Rome is composed of three main mountain systems: * The group antiappennico Monti della Tolfa and Monti Sabatini, north-west, bordering the province of Viterbo; * With the Lazio Subappennino Lucretili Monti, the Tiburtini Prenestini Simbruini and east, bordering with the province of Rieti and the Province of L'Aquila; * The Alban Hills and the northern part of the Lepine mountains to the south-east, bordering the provinces of Latina and Frosinone. The highest peak in the province is located in the mountains with Mount Sibruini Author (m. 1,855), other important peaks are located on the Monti Lucretili with Monte Pellecchia (1368 m.) and Monte Gennaro (died 1271). Over and above these mountain ranges are to be mentioned and the Monte Soratte Cornicolani Mountains, which form the so-called Tiber Ridge, a ridge carbonate dating back to the Meso-Cenozoic. Climate [change] The climate varies greatly from area to area depending on the nature of the terrain. We therefore: * Mediterranean climate along the coast to the west, * Attenuated continental climate in the inland areas to the east. The temperature then decreases from west to east, while increasing the values of rainfall, which increased from about 700 mm / year in the coastal zone, about 1500 mm / year in the area of the Sabine mountains and Simbruini.
