Le Marche region of central Italy, are located on the Adriatic side of the medium and take up 9,694 km ² of Italian territory that lies between the rivers and Marecchia Basin, north, and the Tronto in the south, while to the east are the Apennines. They have a characteristic shape of an irregular pentagon and grow mostly vertically from north to south. The region is dominated by hills, 68.8% of the territory, while the remaining 31.2% is mountainous.
