	Via Garibaldi is located in the heart of Turin and connects Piazza Castello Piazza Statuto. It is the oldest street in the city of memory, once defined by the current Piazza Castello and Via della Consolata, Vittorio Amedeo II was extended under the current course Valdocco; nineteenth connected to Piazza Statute. It has always been the main street of the city, for its length and the breadth was known as one of the Via Dora Grossa Turin, surrounded by eighteenth-century buildings, is, with its 963 meters of development, the long pedestrian street pù d 'Europe The geometry of the Contrada of Dora Grossa remained unchanged for centuries. From 1714, the work ordered by Vittorio Amedeo II of Savoy and continued by his successor Charles Emmanuel III, in collaboration with Philip Juvara, it redefined the perimeter, making it more regular, and extend the route, reaching the current Corso Palestro, then the limit west of the city, in the vicinity of Port Plum. In the nineteenth century, as a result of the new extensions of the city, Via Dora Grossa was linked to Piazza Statuto adding a final, monumental block, equipped with elegant porticoes. As was the city's main thoroughfare, on which stood many of the most important buildings, since 1730 it was equipped with a system of sidewalks, now considered most probably the oldest in Europe. He was also one of the few paved streets of Turin, in place of the normal ground beat that characterized the city streets. Modernized throughout the eighteenth century saw Road Doragrossa build beautiful churches on its sides and increase more and more prestige as its business activities. Following the unification of Italy, it was called Via Garibaldi.
