	The Teatro Regio in Turin is the opera house in the city of Turin. Built in 1740, was destroyed by fire in 1936 and rebuilt in 1973. The origins of the theater back to the beginning of the eighteenth century, when Vittorio Amedeo II decided to commission an architect Filippo Juvarra the design and construction of a new large theater in the context of broader urban redevelopment of the Piazza Castello. The intent, however, was only completed a few years later by Carlo Emanuele III (crowned king in 1730) who, following the death of Juvarra, chose to entrust the project to architect Benedetto Alfieri with the request to design a scene of great prestige. The "Teatro Regio" of Turin, built in a record time of two years, was opened December 26, 1740 with Arsace Francesco Feo, and soon became an international reference point for the seating capacity of 2,500 parking stalls and five tiers of boxes, The magnificent decor of the room stood out among them the ceiling painted by Sebastiano Galeotti, the impressive scenery and technical equipment and the quality of the performances. Each season began on December 26, ended with the end of Carnival and included two new works composed specifically for the Theater Series: during the eighteenth century wrote for the Royal famous Italian composers such as Baldassare Galuppi, Nicholas Jommelli, Domenico Cimarosa, Giovanni Paisiello and foreign authors such as Christoph Willibald Gluck, Johann Christian Bach and Johann Adolf Hasse; we also sang the most famous castrati and prima donnas of the period, contributing to the success of the shows. Not less interest in the dancers, who appeared in two dance entr acte and choreography in the final accompanying each work.
