City of Sassari

Sassari is an Italian city of 130,370 inhabitants (resident population on April 30, 2010), capital of the province of North-western Sardinia and the main center of the head of the island above. Sardinia is the second largest municipality by population.
Archeology

Prehistoric altar of Monte d'Accoddi, unique of its kind in the Mediterranean, the Monte Accoddi is the most important prehistoric archaeological site in Sardinia.

Civil architecture

Walls of Sassari, in the thirteenth century encircled the city, interspersed with 36 towers, of which there are only six, including the only round tower that also Turondola accessible from University Square. The walls are visible along the perimeter of the medieval city, and particularly in Vico Course, Course of SS. Trinidad and via Torre Tonda.
Castello di Sassari, 1330. Built by the Aragonese, was demolished in 1877 and in the area, where it rose, was built barracks La Marmora, home of the Sassari Brigade and obtained the homonymous square.
For some years are underway, in the square, the archaeological excavations in the foundations of the old structure.
