City of Arezzo

The town of Arezzo is located at the confluence of three of the four valleys that make up the province. Directly north of the city begins the Casentino, which is the valley in which the first stretch of the Arno, the North-West lies the Upper Valdarno, always in the stretch that runs from the river route between Arezzo and Florence to the south is Val di Chiana, a plain derived from the rehabilitation of existing wetlands, whose most important watercourse is the Canale Maestro della Chiana. Through the easy pass and the valley of the Torrino Cerfone, you have access to the North-East to the fourth valley, the Tiber Valley, traveled by the first stretch of the Tiber.

The municipal territory is vast and varied: it goes from the plain that opens to the Val di Chiana and Arno, the hills, south of the city, mountainous areas, especially in the east as a result of the large extension of the municipal area the municipalities that border there are numerous on the side of Civitella Val di Chiana are in Val di Chiana, Castiglion Fiorentino, Cortona, Monte San Savino, Marciano della Chiana, on the side of Valdarno and Castiglion Laterina Fibocchi; on the side of Casentino Capolona and beam; side of the Tiber Valley Anghiari, Monterchi and two municipalities of Umbria Città di Castello, Monte Santa Maria Tiberina (Tuscany until 1927).
