Guide Italia - Trentino-Alto Adige

The Fountain of Neptune in Piazza Duomo in Trento in the place where he used to install the "car of the flames" for the feast of Saint Vigilio, was built and designed by the sculptor Francesco Antonio Giongo Lavarone between 1767 and 1769. This fountain sculptor developed a system of water flow without interruption.
The original statue of Neptune in the courtyard of City Hall

The original statue of Neptune is the work of Stephen Psalter from Como, but because of the damage over time it has been moved to the end of 1939 in the courtyard of the nearby Palazzo Thun, while the fountain is since 1945 a bronze copy made in 1942 by David Rigatti.

Under the statue of Neptune fountain is decorated with tritons, seahorses and other sculptures, also originally by Stefano Psalter, [3], then replaced with copies in the nineteenth century by the sculptor Andrea Malfatti (1832-1917) on drawings by the painter Ferdinand Low (Trento, 1819 - Venice, 1883). The Triton is further south than copy made in 1920 by David Rigatti.
