The Veneto (pronounced Veneto) is a region of North-East with 4,821,000 inhabitants (demo.istat.it 31/10/2007) with capital and Venice. It is bordered on the east by the Friuli-Venezia Giulia and the Adriatic Sea (Gulf of Venice), on the north by Austria (Tyrol and Carinthia), north-west of Trentino-Alto Adige, Lombardy to the west, to south by Emilia-Romagna. Due to its landscape heritage, history, art and architecture in the Veneto region, with more than 60 million tourists a year, the most visited region of Italy. The most widely spoken languages are the Venetian and Italian. In some areas they are spoken Ladin, Friulian and Cimbri. The bill aims to protect the Venetian language as an expression of the cultural heritage of the Veneto was approved by the Veneto Regional Council overwhelmingly March 28, 2007 [1]. The Veneto is one of two Italian regions whose inhabitants are officially recognized as "people" from the Italian Parliament.
