Rovigo

Rovigo le torri pendenti Rovigo is a town of 52,458 inhabitants Italian capital of the Province of Rovigo in the Veneto.
The capital is also known as the City of Roses with the description given by Ludovico Ariosto in Orlando Furioso, which derives the Latin name from the Greek word Rhodigium to '¿½ (rhodonite), or pink:
"The earth, which rose produre

This derivation is now considered a poetic fantasy by most historians, however, the rose is still a symbol of the town of Rovigo.

The inhabitants are called Rovigo in standard Italian, but a number of Italian dictionaries also show the popular voice rovigotti.
The town of Rovigo stretches from the Alps to the north and south Canalbianco, with the exception of the Turkish village of Phenyl which is situated between the drain Canalbianco and salt, are located about 41 km from the coast of the Adriatic Sea.
The terrain is extremely flat and the altitude varies between 5 and 8 meters above sea level. It is crossed by numerous canals and dall'Adigetto serving both for land reclamation for irrigation. Among them Ceresolo the Rezzinella the Valdentro the Adigetto the Canalbianco the Pontecchio, the Pumpkin stroke, in some places, the boundaries of the municipality, the collector Padano Polesano through the Turkish village of phenyl.
The soil is very fertile and particularly suitable for growing maize and vegetables quality. Canalbianco opens the inland port of Rovigo, became operational in 1998.
The town of Rovigo is surrounded (clockwise) to the north with the municipalities of tramps, Vescovana, Boara Pisani and Anguillara Veneta, on the east by the municipalities of San Martino di Venezze, Villadose Ceregnano and to the south with the municipalities to Barberry, Pontecchio Polesine Bosaro and, on the west by the municipalities of Arquà Polesine, Costa di Rovigo, Villanova del Ghebbo and Lusia.
