is an Italian town of 270,516 inhabitants, capital of the province of Venice and the Veneto region.
It was also more than a millennium capital of the Republic of Venice and in this respect known as "La Serenissima" or "dominant."

For the peculiarities of urban planning and for the priceless treasures of artistic, Venice is universally considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world and ranks among the UNESCO World Heritage by UNESCO: this factor has helped make it the second or third in competition with Florence, the Italian city after Rome with the highest flow of tourists, mostly from abroad.
The territory stretches over much of the Lagoon of Venice, but also on the surrounding land, including the greater metropolitan area that has as its center Mestre.
