limoncello or limoncino alt

Limoncello or limoncino is a sweet liqueur produced by maceration of lemon peel in alcohol, and of other citrus fruits, then mixed with a syrup of sugar and water.

Its starting point is a simple preparation, but accurate. After about one month of maturation (for some recipes but the duration is much lower) in the bottle, it becomes the classic yellow liqueur can be enjoyed as an aperitif or as a digestive after meals.

The peel of lemon yellow color, obtained from the best lemon-shaped elliptical, symmetrical and medium-large, is the main ingredient of limoncello containing essential oils that give the liqueur a very strong aroma.

According to tradition, the liquor was founded at the beginning of the twentieth century and his paternity is contested between Sorrento, Amalfi and Capri: very well known fact is that product using the lemon from Sorrento Campania (the "femminello") or sfusato Amalfi IGP.

The term "lemon" is allowed only for products with citrus liqueurs IGP Sorrento.
