Ricette tipiche - Friuli Venezia Giulia

Jota alt

The jota is a typical dish of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia.

This is a soup that is in the Trieste-based version of sauerkraut and beans, may be thickened with potato or corn flour and enriched with smoked pork ribs.

In Gorizia variant is more "dark" for greater quantities of beans and with the addition of barley.

Probably the original of the Carso, is now widespread in the province of Trieste and Gorizia in the Isonzo left.

In Friuli is called Jote, but his preparation time was very limited widespread enough to be left only in trace meat, particularly so in the Val Degano and Pesarina.

Some approach the Jote the mignestre brovade of Friuli, but the latter has a completely different composition, with the turnip (brovade) instead of sauerkraut and sausage (musèt) instead of smoked pork ribs.
